Who is Imran Khan?
Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician, former cricketer, and the current Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was born on October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan. He is the founder and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party, which he established in 1996.
Khan gained international recognition as a cricketer, playing for the Pakistani national team from 1971 to 1992. He was the captain of the team from 1982 to 1992, leading them to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup.
After retiring from cricket, Khan became involved in philanthropy and social work, founding the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, which provides free cancer treatment to underprivileged patients.
In 1997, Khan founded the PTI political party, advocating for an end to corruption, poverty, and social inequality in Pakistan. After years of opposition, Khan's PTI won a majority of seats in the 2018 general elections, and he was sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018.
